Supporting designers is at the core of CFDA’s mission and they do it through all of their programs. The organization is now excited to launch the CFDA Fashion Trust, a new charitable initiative that provides business support to U.S. based designers through financial grants and strategic mentoring.
The idea of a Fashion Trust originated in the U.K., where fashion power broker Tania Fares founded the program in partnership with the British Fashion Council, and helped such designers as J.W. Anderson, Erdem, and Emilia Wickstead.
Fares is also the founder of the CFDA Fashion Trust, which she co-chairs with Elisa Sednaoui Dellal for the LA chapter, and Rickie De Sole and Laura de Gunzburg in New York.
CFDA is looking to build the Fashion Trust through founding patrons and beyond. Through the generosity of these individuals and corporations, CFDA will raise funds to allocate to U.S.-based designers.
Donors to the Fashion Trust will be privy to exclusive events and unique experiences hosted by many of the creative industry’s leading voices.
“The CFDA Fashion Trust is an opportunity to expand involvement in the organization beyond designer membership,” CFDA President and CEO Steven Kolb said. “By giving a voice to other industry leaders and fashion enthusiasts, they will be bringing new ideas and experiences to CFDA’s mission.”
Founding Patrons include Alison Loehnis, Megha Mittal, HRH Reema Bint Bandar Bin Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Carolyn Rowan, Maria Bell, Joyce Ostin, and Angelique Soave.
In LA, the Advisory Committee includes Ali Fatourechi, Christine Marzano, Liberty Ross, Ciara Wilson and Marc Jordan. The CFDA Fashion Trust Ambassadors there are Nicole Avant, George Kotsiopoulos, Irena Medavoy, Eric Buterbaugh, and Kelly Meyer.
In New York, the Advisory Committee consists of Natalya Poniatowski, Nasiba Adilova, Kinjil Mathur, Fabiola Beracassa, Lizzie Tisch and Natacha Minniti.
